Lee made a name for himself at City when he transferred from Bolton Wanderers in 1967, where he scored an impressive 148 goals in 330 matches. During his time at the club, he achieved great success, winning the First Division, FA Cup, League Cup, and the European Cup Winners’ Cup over eight years.

As one of the club’s most legendary players, Lee also represented England 27 times and scored 10 goals for his country. In his later years, he resided in a luxurious £500,000 home in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

Apart from his football career, Lee was a thriving entrepreneur and racehorse trainer. His toilet paper business brought him great wealth after he retired from playing. City announced his passing on social media, stating, “Franny lost his battle with cancer in the early hours of this morning.”
