Lamarr was a prominent figure in Hollywood from the 1930s to the 1950s, delivering notable performances in films such as Samson and Delilah (1949), Come Live With Me (1941), and The Strange Woman (1946).

Apart from her acting career, Lamarr was also known for her inventive spirit. During World War II, she developed a signaling device that helped the Allied Powers disrupt enemy torpedoes controlled through radio signals.
