ELLE honored the action star at the event, shedding light on her bravery in standing up against alleged mistreatment from Justice League director Joss Whedon. Reports revealed that Gal confronted Whedon concerning certain dialogue for Wonder Woman that she felt was out of character, leading him to be verbally abusive. Despite his threats to make her look foolish in the film, Gal remained firm in her stance.
Following the incident, Gal and Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins met with then-Warner Bros. chairman Kevin Tsujihara to resolve the matter. Despite feeling scared during the confrontation, Gal’s determination prevailed as she defended her character and values.

“Oh, as soon as it happened, I started to shake trees. The bigwigs over at Warner Brothers really took care of the situation,” Gal stated.

I simply did what I felt was necessary. It was important to let people know that such behavior is not acceptable.”
